The background problem of this research was students’ low learning curiosity and achievement. The students’ low curiosity was indicated by students’ ignorance during teaching and learning process, i.e. playing on their own, not giving attention to teachers, and not giving a response to teachers’ questions. Meanwhile, the students’ low learning achievement was indicated by their low score on the mid-term test of grade V (many students got the score below the minimum standard achievement). This classroom action research aimed to improve students’ low learning curiosity and achievement during the teaching and learning process through demonstration method of Cooperative Learning Type Student Teams Achievement Divinisions (STAD). It was conducted in grade V of MI (Islamic Primary School) Muhammadiyah Patikraja. The research participants were 28 students consisting of 13 male and 15 female. This research was conducted on the second semester of 2017/2018 academic year. It was implemented in Science subject class on land formation material. The result indicated an improvement from cycle I to cycle II. In cycle I, the students’ curiosity average score was 2.45. This belongs to good criteria. However, it improved in the second cycle to 3.25 and belonged to very good criteria. The result of cycle I had not achieved the success indicator because the students were passive. They did not ask questions to the teacher related to the materials they have not understood. The average score of students’ learning achievement of cycle I was 77.30 with 78.58% percentage. This belongs to good criteria. However, it also improved in the second cycle to 81.08 with 92.85% percentage and belonged to very good criteria. The second cycle achieved the success indicator because the students have understood and paid attention to the teaching material. Thus, the evaluation of students learning achieved the expected success indicator.
